A Major Winter Storm for Northwest PA Expected Wednesday.
Early Wednesday morning, a low pressure center will move across Michigan and southern Ontario, bringing precipitation to the state. Colder temperatures will cooperate to bring snowfall for much of the state, and somewhat high amounts possible at that. The highest snowfall (4-6") will be restricted to higher elevations in the northern counties of the state. This will be elevation dependent as although temperatures are cooperating to bring snow, they will still be warm enough to melt it rather quickly in some locations, especially in valleys.
6AM Wednesday simulated radar - Snow begins in northwestern Pennsylvania, heavy at times.
12PM Wednesday simulated radar - Snow continues in central Pennsylvania, snow ends in western Pennsylvania, rain falls in warmer sectors of eastern Pennsylvania.
6PM Wednesday simulated radar - The main event ends, however some showers and squalls, along with minor lake effect snow, will take place after the system moves out of our area.
This snow will cause business delays and closures on Wednesday as the snow will persist into Wednesday afternoon. The most likely areas to see a business or school delay and closure is the higher elevation regions of northern and northwestern Pennsylvania.
